There are high hopes this season for Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who wants to continue thriving in Ben Johnson’s offense. Also, Williams got a Russell Wilson clutch comparison from Robert Saleh, according to a post on X by Turron Davenport.
“Robert Saleh said Caleb Williams is like a modern-day Russell Wilson in that when you get to the fourth quarter, you better watch out.”
Williams didn’t have a lot of success in his rookie season in terms of victories. But last year he led the Bears to an 11-6 record.

Williams is doing just fine as the Bears march toward the 2026 season, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
‘‘I’ve been pretty consistent that I’m happy with where he’s at,’’ Johnson said. ‘‘I love the approach that he takes coming in to work every day. I love his demeanor on the field. There’s a level of professionalism that radiates from him. Everything he’s doing . . . there’s a mission in mind. So I appreciate that about him.’’
Johnson said maturity in the game is something better for Williams this season, according to Sports Illustrated.
“I think that’s been probably the best thing so far this camp, just the anticipation, the timing, the understanding of where we want to put the football,” Johnson. “He is not afraid to fit it into tight windows. He trusts his pass catchers.
“But a year ago I think a lot of the things we’re foreign to him. And now you can tell he has some banked reps and he’s able to anticipate where he wants to go with the football.”
And it’s part of the building process.
“This is a continual process that we started well over a year ago now,” Johnson said. “And we’re just continuing to build on things that we see that he’s doing well and things that we feel he can get better at. I alluded to it a couple days ago, we’re honing in this week in particular on some of his situational work and coverage recognition.
“We’ll get through this block and sit down and reassess where we’re at and what we need to focus on going forward.”
