nfl news

The latest NFL news took a wild turn tonight as fans on X are unhappy with star linebacker Micah Parsons’ brother reacting to Josh Jacobs’ charges. Following a domestic violence investigation, Wisconsin court records indicate Jacobs is facing misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property. The running back was arrested for one night only during the incident in May after turning himself in and was released the next day. Jacobs’ case includes video of the alleged assault captured by a surveillance system that has yet to be released to the public.

Matt Schneidman of The Athletic said the running back ” grabbed [the victim] and threw her to the ground and she struck her head, suffering an injury.” The incident suggests this on video. If released to the public, it could spark stronger action. However, here’s what the star linebacker had to say on X:

“A shove.? Yall gotta relax anger gets the best out of anyone everyone deserves a second chance misdemeanors at that,” Terrence Parsons Jr said on X.

He also posted a follow-up:

I’ll never be afraid to stand on what I believe in… yall act like he sucker punched that girl this ain’t a ray rice situation never said he was right but it ain’t right calling for that man’s career.

What’s Next

Visual evidence of the physical altercation could lead to a harsher punishment. Originally selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product hoped to turn his career around after the incident. However, the NFL’s personal conduct policy allows the league to discipline players independently. The video footage could also force the Packers to re-evaluate his roster status.

It’ll be a development to watch, but as of this posting, the Packers have MarShawn Lloyd, Chris Brooks and Pierre Strong Jr. expected to step up. Green Bay has not signed a free-agent running back this offseason, even though Austin Ekeler, Raheem Mostert and Antonio Gibson are available.

The Packers may sign an available veteran come Week 1. Stay tuned
