GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - There was a sign on Thursday that football season is nearly here, as the Packers hosted their Welcome Back luncheon at Lambeau Field.
The team has been hosting the event for more than 60 years.
It gives community leaders, business members, and fans a chance to get up close with Packers players and coaches.
Linebacker Edgerrin Cooper won this year’s community service award for his work with several non-profit organizations.
“It was always in my heart to help people who needed it. Help and love. I’ve been there before, and just putting the impact on people’s faces kids, schools, families. I smile a lot myself and know how much weight that holds,” said Cooper.
The Packers wrap up the preseason Friday night against the Arizona Cardinals.
They open the regular season September 13th against the Minnesota Vikings.
