Habeeb Ogunneye appears to be on the verge of joining Arsenal after saying farewell to Manchester United. The defender has said it's time for the next chapter after expressing his thanks to the Red Devils.
Ogunneye, 20, spent five years coming through the ranks at Old Trafford but is set to make the move south on a free transfer, with United set to have a significant sell-on clause in the deal. United team-mate James Scanlon is set to make the same move this summer.
Arsenal's new Under-21s head coach, David Horseman, is familiar with both players, having spent time at United as an academy coach. Ogunneye, a right-back, was reported to have undergone a medical ahead of his transfer earlier this week.
"5 years. What a journey," the youngster posted on Instagram. "Forever grateful for the memories, the people and everything this club has given me. Time for the next chapter."
His post was accompanied by a photograph of himself in a United training kit as a child and another walking out at Old Trafford.
Former Arsenal youngster Chido Obi, who now plies his trade for United, was among those to respond. He, along with Darren Fletcher's sons Jack and Tyler, posted red hearts to their soon-to-be former team-mate. Kai Rooney was also among those to wish Ogunneye well.

Ogunneye has some experience of senior football after spending time on loan at Newport County last term. He joined the club on loan last summer and played 21 times for the League Two side before being recalled in January.
The academy product has been part of a number of United's first team squads, making the bench for the Emirates FA Cup fifth-round tie against Nottingham Forest in 2024 and for the Reds' FA Cup semi-final against Coventry at Wembley.
Arsenal have looked to add plenty of youthful talent to their side this summer, and appear to be on the verge of also signing Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers. The Gunners have frequently been linked with moving for the 18-year-old throughout 2026 and are said to have agreed a deal for an initial £1million, with a further £2m available in potential add-ons.
Tyjon is also thought to have undergone a medical, and has also said goodbye via social media, though his post has since been deleted.
