Everton could soon have a major decision to make over Iliman Ndiaye, with Manchester City reportedly considering an £80m offer for the Senegal international.
City’s interest in Ndiaye emerged earlier this week, before Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that they were working on a possible deal.
TEAMtalk has now taken the story a step further, claiming City have discussed Ndiaye internally and spoken to intermediaries as they weigh up an £80m offer.
There has been no report of a formal bid at this stage.
Everton could face late Ndiaye test
An offer of that size would put Everton in a difficult position so close to the end of the transfer window.
Ndiaye is an important part of David Moyes’ side and losing him now would leave Everton with little time to find a replacement. His contract, which runs until 2029, also means there is no immediate pressure to sell.
The Guardian has backed up City’s interest and reported that Everton value Ndiaye at around £80m.
There is also the Jack Grealish situation to consider. The Independent has reported that a potential deal could involve Grealish returning to Everton after his loan spell last season.
For now, those remain separate strands of a rapidly developing transfer story.
Everton have not accepted an offer for Ndiaye and, crucially, there is no indication yet that City have actually submitted the £80m proposal being considered.
But their interest appears to be moving beyond simply identifying the 26-year-old as a target.
If City do put £80m on the table before the deadline, Moyes and Everton will have a sizeable decision to make.
