**Liverpool don’t look likely to sign Ismaila Sarr this summer, but it’s not exactly bad news.**
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has argued that Crystal Palace view Sarr as crucial to their plans and therefore aren’t willing to budge on selling him.
He told [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/crystal-palace-fc/crystal-palace-make-ismaila-sarr-exit-decision-after-liverpool-offer): “_Sarr has been crucial for Crystal Palace over the last couple of seasons. He scored tons of goals last season and was a big part in why they were successful again, so from Palace’s point of view, he is key to their plans for the future._
_“We’ve said the same thing about Crystal Palace since they won the FA Cup. They have to be doing everything in their power to keep their best players at the club. That’s often easier said than done, but they already sold \[Maxence\] Lacroix earlier this summer, and they won’t want to let another one go._
_“If they are going to sell those players, the question becomes about where they can go to replace them, and in this case that would be very difficult for them to do._
_“It seems the decision has been made that Sarr will not be allowed to leave. They hope to keep hold of him because he’s got such a big role to play in that side.”_
Is Sarr an acceptable level attacking signing for Liverpool?
------------------------------------------------------------
It really depends on how much Iraola plans to use him. At Crystal Palace, he’s a starter, but at Liverpool, he would likely be more of a squad player.
The only reason why I might be happy to see him join Liverpool is that he would add experience, high-quality finishing and decent depth to the options available at the moment.
There’s also the fact that there is a real dearth of elite right wingers at the moment.
Besides Michael Olise and Lamine Yamal, there aren’t that many truly top players in the role, and Liverpool aren’t going to stand a chance of signing either.
Mohamed Salah is the only other player that fits this bracket of player and he just left the club.
Sarr is a good player, but he’s also more of an inside right forward than a true chalk-on-the-boots winger.
