Hamburg boss Merlin Polzin has confirmed the club are prepared to "give their all" to re-sign Arsenal attacker Fabio Vieira before Tuesday's transfer deadline.
The Portuguese playmaker, now in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, dazzled on loan in Germany last season, racking up 11 goal contributions in 29 Bundesliga games.
He remains a live target but HSV has struggled to agree on a price with the Premier League champions.
Still, hope hasn't waned that a deal is possible, Polzin explained: “I've said it so many times already, Fabio provided us with so many great moments last season.

"He's an outstanding player. Plus, he's the kind of guy who fit perfectly into the team and brings something really special to the table.
"No matter how realistic it might be – for me, as a fan who likes to be a bit naive and not overthink things you can't control, it would be a huge boost if he came back.
“It's our duty to give it our all. Claus [Costa] and his team are doing just that. And then we'll see what happens between now and Tuesday."
Hamburg's director of professional football Claus Costa is said to have travelled to England in the past week to meet with the player.
Vieira is also understood to have attracted interest from other European clubs but he's open to returning to HSV, where he was adored by the club's supporters.
He is no longer training with Arsenal's first-team squad as he is one of several players, alongside Gabriel Jesus, that is free to depart for the right price.

Hamburg's buy-option for Vieira on the back of his loan was worth in the region of £17million, which they deemed to excessive.
Instead they wanted to re-negotiate a deal with Arsenal but so far, discussions have failed to reach a positive conclusion.
However, Arsenal are unlikely to keep the forward given he'll be available to discuss a free transfer as soon as January.
The club are keen to recoup some funds having paid in the region of £34m to sign him from Porto back in the summer of 2022.
Vieira has no future at Arsenal despite featuring during pre-season under Mikel Arteta.
