Roberto Firmino has revealed his desire to return to Anfield as part of a Liverpool Legends side, though he is still aiming to play for “another four or five years.”
Firmino left Liverpool three years ago and is now at his second club since departing, having signed for Qatari side Al Sadd in 2025 after two seasons with Al-Ahli.
But he still holds the club he represented for eight seasons in his heart, telling The Athletic‘s James Pearce that he watches every game he is able to.

“The club means everything to me and my family. The people there always treated us so well,” the striker said.
“We have so many amazing memories. There was so much joy with the goals I was able to score, the trophies that we won and the parades we had around the city.
“It was a gift from God to be able to play there for so long. I’m proud of what we achieved.”
Firmino represented Liverpool for longer than any other club in his career, including at youth level, and is considered a bona fide legend at Anfield.
He is more than qualified to represent Liverpool Legends, and he told Pearce he is hoping to do so after he retires: “I will definitely return [to Anfield] at some point. It’s such a special place.
“I’d love to come back and play for the Liverpool Legends in one of those charity games.
“If they call me, I will be there.”

Liverpool may need to wait until Firmino is in his 40s, though, with the 34-year-old explaining his hope to continue playing professionally for many years yet.
“I want to keep playing for as long as I can. As long as I can stay healthy and can still contribute at a good level, I will keep going,” he said.
“Why not play for another four or five years? Until I’m 40? Yeah maybe. Let’s see what God’s plan is.”

It may be hard to believe, but fans have already seen a number of players from the Jurgen Klopp era turn out for Liverpool Legends.
Thiago was the latest to debut, joining a side managed by Klopp himself and also including Ragnar Klavan for a 2-2 draw with Dortmund at Anfield in March.
Pepe Reina and Martin Skrtel are other recent participants, while it would be no surprise to see any of James Milner, Divock Origi or Simon Mignolet receive the call after their retirement this summer.
