Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Gil has reportedly opened the door to the possibility of Julian Alvarez leaving the club, with Arsenal continuing to be linked with a move for the Argentine striker.
However, any potential departure will not see Alvarez join Barcelona, with the Atletico chief making it clear that the forward would not be sold to the Catalan giants.
The latest comments could provide encouragement to Arsenal, who have been repeatedly linked with Alvarez as they continue to look for elite attacking options capable of taking the club to another level.
Alvarez has established himself as one of the most highly regarded forwards in world football, possessing the versatility to operate as a central striker or in a deeper attacking role.
