Brighton and Hove Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler says he will “see what happens” over the future of Yankuba Minteh, amid interest from Liverpool.
David Ornstein reported last week that Liverpool have had two offers worth €58million (£50m) and €70m (£60m) turned down by Brighton for Minteh.
It remains to be seen whether the Reds will look to make a third offer for the 22-year-old, with the Seagulls valuing the winger at around €81m (£70m).
Hurzeler revealed in the lead up to Thursday’s win over Tromso that he held talks with Minteh in an attempt to convince him to stay.
The German has since doubled down on his desire to keep hold of the Gambia international, saying “at the moment he is a Brighton player”.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Hurzeler said of Minteh: “He is a player for Brighton and at the moment there is nothing else to say.
“I admire from him that when this [transfer] window is closed that he is fully committed to this club.”
Hurzeler says he understands Minteh has “dreams” of playing at the highest level - something Liverpool can offer via the Champions League this season.
However, the 33-year-old head coach reiterated Brighton will always make decisions based on what is best from them.
