Wiley is still only 21 and under contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2030. He has spent two spells on loan in the Championship with Watford, but has only made 15 appearances in total due to the aforementioned injuries.

Wiley is smart to prioritise game time. He emerged as a real prospect with Atlanta United, managing six goals and seven assists in 86 games for the MLS club, earning his move to Chelsea as one to watch for the future.

Preston North End might be in for a tougher season, but they could be a better option for Wiley in his hunt for a starting role. Paul Heckingbottom wants more attack-minded options out wide and the American would certainly fit the mould, potentially setting him up for a key role.

Based on what Wiley showed in the MLS in the early stages of career, he remains a player of real promise. Things have slowed a little since arriving at Chelsea, but he is still only 21 and has plenty of time to reach his high ceiling.
His attack-minded style of play and athleticism on the left could make him a real hit in the Championship. Wiley can make overlapping runs on the left, perhaps making him ideal for West Ham as Manor Solomon cuts inside.
Game time is the priority though, and Preston may have the edge here. As Wiley weights up his options, it will be intriguing to see just where he heads this summer.
