The 21-year-old American defender plays as a left-back or left-wing-back, and will wear the number 12 shirt at PNE.

Upon signing, Wiley told the club website: “It's a very exciting time. Everything's happened pretty quickly but I'm really looking forward to my time here.

"The minute that I was told that Preston were interested, I was instantly excited for this opportunity. I've had some great conversations with the manager already and it's clear what he wants from me. I'm looking forward to my time here and growing as a player."

Wiley has previously been loaned out to Strasbourg - Chelsea’s sister club - and Watford, who he spent the second half of the 2024/25 season and the first half of the following campaign with.

After 15 appearances across those two spells with the Hornets, he was recalled by Chelsea in January this year, to continue his rehabilitation from a long-term adductor injury.

His career began with Atlanta United, making his debut for their reserve team aged 15. He signed a professional contract with their senior side in 2022 and made 83 appearances, scoring six goals, before moving to Chelsea in 2024 for £8.5m.

Wiley is North End’s eighth acquisition of the summer, the second this week following winger Stanley Mills’ arrival from Oxford United on a three-year deal for a reported £2.5m.

Goalkeeper Lee Nicholls, club- record signing Alfie Devine, midfielder Léo Leroy and right- back Harry Clarke are their other permanent signings, while Jusef Erabi and Delano Burgzorg have joined on loan from Genk and Middlesbrough respectively.
