FC Barcelona have seen several of their players impress during the season so far. Despite having played only two official games so far this season, it has been clear to see that certain players are rising to the occasion and delivering top performances.
In fact, even the Barça coach could not help but praise certain players considering the way that they have been playing thus far this season. However, during the clash against Athletic Club in particular, a certain young defender reminded everyone why he starts for this team week after week.
As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the young 19-year-old centre-back was heavily involved throughout the game against Athletic Club and his impact was substantial. In fact, even the statistics showcase that in his favour and highlight the young defender’s substantial impact on a game in which the Catalan giants were able to maintain a clean sheet as well.
With 120 touches throughout the match, he was undeniably one of the most involved players during that fixture. Moreover, he completed a 102 passes throughout the match as well, with several of them being crucial in breaking the Athletic Club structure.
The young Barcelona defender also won all of his ground duels while remaining a threat whenever he competed for his aerial duels as well, winning half of them. Similarly, he made several tackles, clearances, and he was always composed under pressure.
Despite his lack of experience and age, this young defender came into this game with no shortage of confidence. After all, this La Masia gem was the 2026 FIFA World Cup’s Young Player of the Tournament, an achievement that is always special for any player.
Thanks to his presence and leadership, despite his young age, players around him have seen their game improve as well. Gerard Martin, for instance, really seems to be thriving alongside Cubarsi whenever the two start together.
