An inquest has heard that Cassius Newton, 34, and Aran Martinson, 33, died while hiking in temperatures exceeding 40C in the United Arab Emirates.
The pair, who had both moved to Dubai for work, went missing after setting off on a recreational trail in Wadi Naqab on 18 July.
Search teams discovered the men in a mountainous region, and both were pronounced dead at a hospital in Ras Al Khaimah later that day.
Provisional medical causes of death for both men were recorded as cardiac and respiratory arrest caused by severe heat stress.
Chelsea Football Club expressed their devastation at the death of former Academy player Cassius Newton, the son of former Chelsea player and coach Eddie Newton.
