Leeds United have been told by Chelsea that they aren’t being considered as a destination for Mykhailo Mudryk, but Strasbourg may be off the table too now.
Daniel Farke needs fresh additions to his squad before the deadline strikes on Tuesday evening. Leeds’ starting XI is more than good enough to be absolutely fine in the Premier League, but depth is an issue.
So, it’s hardly a shock that Leeds have already tried adding to the squad in the final third, with the left-wing one of our targets.
Leeds United initially told no by Chelsea over Mykhailo Mudryk loan
Chelsea outcast Mykhailo Mudryk has been a top target of Leeds’ during August. The Ukraine international has only just returned to action after being handed a doping ban in late-2024.
Leeds made an approach to sign the winger on loan, but were knocked back by our EFL Cup round three opponents. The terms of the loan appear to be the reason, with Chelsea wanting financial penalties in the event of Mudryk not playing enough.

It was claimed that Leeds are no longer being considered an option by Chelsea for the 25-year-old. Instead, the winger has been earmarked for a move across to Strasbourg.
Unsurprisingly, Strasbourg would be Chelsea’s preference, keeping up their questionable multi-club dealings. What keeps Leeds in the mix is the fact it’s reliably reported that Elland Road would be his preference.

Well, Chelsea’s hopes of shipping Mudryk to Strasbourg in order get guaranteed playing time might be hampered.
That’s because Fabrizio Romano reports that Strasbourg are set to sign left-winger Oso from Sevilla for a reported €10million fee.
Along with Martial Godo and Sebastian Nanasi, Oso playing off the left would surely mean that Mudryk’s chances of playing regularly are limited.
As a result, it could open the door back up for Leeds to sign Mudryk.
We know that he would like to join Leeds, and we know that Chelsea would’ve liked a Strasbourg loan. Now, a Strasbourg loan doesn’t really look like it makes that much sense. That might force the Blues to soften their stance on United.
The clock is ticking. If Chelsea want Mudryk out on loan before the window shuts, Leeds remain their best avenue.
