Liverpool may have reached a £120 million deal in principle to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola, but that hasn't stopped transfer chiefs at Anfield from admiring another forward just across the city.
The Reds are one of several teams linked with a move for Everton star Iliman Ndiaye, with a transfer race set to come into life over the final days of the window.
Everton have been determined to keep the Senegal international at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but that has not stopped weeks of speculation that the forward could seek pastures new. Saudi Arabia has long been touted as a potential destination for Ndiaye, but there is no shortage of suitors closer to home in the Premier League.

TEAMtalk carry the latest reports on Ndiaye's future, with Liverpool ready to compete with Premier League clubs for his signature.
It's Enzo Maresca's side who are frontrunners at this stage, with a staggering £80 million bid reportedly on its way to Everton - that could be a fee too large for the Toffees to turn down. Everton paid just £15 million to sign Ndiaye from Marseille two years ago.
Man City could also sway their Premier League rivals with a swap deal for Jack Grealish, with David Moyes keen on having the former Aston Villa playmaker back at the Hill Dickinson this season.
Ndiaye is believed to have turned down multiple offers of a new contract at Everton, which has turned the heads of the top flight rivals ahead of Deadline Day. Asked about the importance of keeping the player ahead of the weekend, Moyes said:
“I’ve just said. I don’t think we need to do any more.
"Somebody told me we had contact from, I think it was Al Hilal, in the summer, but we heard nothing from them.
“So, a lot of stuff that floats around is not always true. Maybe this is true? But certainly, the stuff previously wasn’t.”
Liverpool are said to have 'looked closely' at Ndiaye and are still in the race at this stage, if not a leading option for the versatile forward. The Reds have already added Victor Munoz to their attack this summer, looking to plug the hole left by Egyptian legend Mohamed Salah.

Transfer Verdict: Could Liverpool actually shop at rivals Everton?

It's crunch time for Liverpool's hunt for added attacking impetus this summer. The Reds have been pursuing a move for Barcola all summer long and, while a breakthrough is now believed to have been reached, that complicated deal is still not formalised.
It feels unlikely that Andoni Iraola's side will spend the £120 million on the Frenchman, and then be able to match the incoming Man City bid of £80 million for Ndiaye
The Everton man would provide Liverpool with the versatility to play off both flanks, perhaps more natural at doing so than any of the squad's current attacking options, or left-sided Barcola.
There is also the small matter of the Merseyside rivalry. No player has transferred between the two sides in 24 years, the last being Abel Xavier in 2002. If Everton are reluctant to let the player leave to any club, a transfer to Liverpool this late in the window would take a stratospheric offer.
