Tottenham vs Newcastle Predicted Lineup - Newcastle fans display banners during Carabao Cup tie
Last Word on Football brings you the latest team news and predicted lineups ahead of Tottenham vs Newcastle in the Premier League. Both sides progressed in the EFL Cup in midweek but are yet to record their first league win, with Spurs losing to Brentford last weekend and Newcastle being held by Liverpool.
The Lillywhites were comprehensively beaten at Brentford last weekend but responded in impressive fashion with a 5-1 win over Charlton Athletic on Wednesday to progress in the EFL Cup. New signing Savio came off the bench to score and assist in a comfortable evening for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
Matthias Jaissle takes charge of his first away game as manager after being denied an opening-day victory by Dominik Szoboszlai’s stoppage-time penalty last weekend. The Magpies also progressed in the cup in midweek, defeating West Bromwich Albion 3-2 thanks to a Harvey Barnes brace and a goal from summer signing Bazoumana Traore.

Tottenham Team News
Tottenham will welcome the returns of defenders Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven, who both came off the bench against Charlton on Wednesday and are available for this game. Destiny Udogie is also available after completing an hour in midweek, while De Zerbi confirmed summer signings Savio and Omar Marmoush are available to make their full debuts.

Another boost could see Mohammed Kudus return to the bench, with the Ghana international back in full training after suffering a thigh injury in January. However, the team will continue to be without Xavi Simons, Dejan Kulusevski and Wilson Odobert, who are all recovering from serious knee injuries.
James Maddison is also likely to miss out after suffering a shoulder injury in the defeat at Brentford last weekend, while Pape Matar Sarr remains a doubt amid ongoing transfer speculation. De Zerbi has confirmed that Sandro Tonali will start against his former club, while Marcos Senesi is in contention again after being rested in midweek.
Newcastle Team News
The Magpies have injury concerns of their own and will be without a number of key players for their visit to north London. Club captain Dan Burn remains unavailable with an ankle injury, while Jaissle will also be unable to call upon Joelinton and Tino Livramento, who are both sidelined through injury.
Further adding to Newcastle’s concerns is an injury to striker Will Osula, who came off against Liverpool after colliding with Virgil van Dijk and now faces a spell on the sidelines. On the positive side, Newcastle can hand a debut to midfielder Nico Gonzalez, who signed from Manchester City this week and could face some of his former teammates in Savio and Marmoush.
Jaissle rotated his side on Wednesday and handed full debuts to goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen and goalscorer Traore, but was forced to introduce several players who started against Liverpool from the bench to secure the victory.
It will be intriguing to see who replaces Osula in the lineup. Nick Woltemade deputised in midweek, although Yoane Wissa, who was named Man of the Match against the Reds, could be the more likely option, with Woltemade playing slightly deeper.
