Liverpool are looking to “strike a deal” with Real Madrid and bring Trent Alexander-Arnold back to the club, according to a massive new transfer claim.
The 27-year-old made the controversial decision to leave his boyhood club last summer, finding it too difficult to turn down the advances of Madrid.
The manner in which Alexander-Arnold left didn’t sit right with plenty of Liverpool supporters, with the right-back allowing his contract to run down and depart on a free transfer.
But that’s not to say that he wouldn’t still be welcomed back to the club by many, and according to a respected source on X, the Reds are pushing for a reunion this summer:
“Trent Alexander-Arnold WILL return to Liverpool, but only if the Reds can strike a deal with Real Madrid. The boyhood club. The broken relationship. The unfinished story.”

This is a huge claim, in what would be one of the most dramatic pieces of business in the summer transfer window, seeing Liverpool reunite with a former hero.
Alexander-Arnold’s time at Madrid hasn’t gone to plan yet, and Jose Mourinho has opted to start Denzel Dumfries over him in the opening weeks of this season.
If a return to Liverpool genuinely appeals to him, it would be foolish for the Reds not to make a move for him, having been lauded by Jurgen Klopp when they worked together amid so much success:
“He has been a fantastic player from the first day. An outstanding talent and he has turned into a world-class football player. It is rare as a manager that you are part of a journey for such a long time. Trent has never had a different manager so it will be good for him to get new influences in the future. But he can be happy with the steps he has made.”
Some will feel that Alexander-Arnold has ruined his Liverpool legacy and that he shouldn’t return, but that feels like a naive approach to take.
He is an elite right-back when in form, and far superior to Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley, proving to be an assist machine, registering 92 in 354 appearances for the Reds.
Alexander-Arnold isn’t perfect, and he would have to improve his defensive effort levels under Andoni Iraola, but at least trying to bring him back is worth it.
