Liverpool goalkeeper Kornel Misciur will spend the 2026/27 season on loan in the seventh tier of English football, marking his first experience at senior level.

He has joined Northern Premier League Premier Division side Leek Town FC, which is close enough to see him return to work at the AXA Training Centre.

As the club are only semi-professional, he will also be expected to continue his development under the watch of Liverpool’s coaches between weekend matches.

For those not familiar with the 19-year-old goalkeeper, he joined from Hull in 2023 and has since played for the club’s U18s and U21s.

He readily trains with the first-team goalkeepers and last season was named in a matchday squad six times under Arne Slot, as a member of the extended bench in the Champions League.

Misciur has proved himself an outstanding shot-stopper and a standout among the academy goalkeepers since his arrival at the club.

His temporary move to Leek Town FC will allow him to test himself at senior level on a consistent basis, an experience he cannot be exposed to at Liverpool.

The non-league side have already played six games this season, winning only once and drawing three times to sit 16th, with 11 goals conceded.

He will work under goalkeeping coach James McClenaghan, who stepped in for a match last season and helped Leek Town to secure a victory.

Dino Visser, 37, is the veteran at the non-league side but is currently sidelined with injury, likely leaving Misciur to compete with Alex Mclachlan early on.

The trip to Workington on Saturday may prove too early for Misciur to feature, but he will hope to be involved in the midweek league meeting against Warrington Town.

The goalkeeper is one of several loan moves expected before the transfer window closes, with Harvey Elliott among those attracting interest from Spain and Italy.

All the best, Kornel!
