Harvey Elliott could leave Liverpool this summer after seeing his playing time decline at Anfield. The 23-year-old has made 149 appearances for the Reds during his seven years at the club but was deemed expendable after falling down the pecking order.
He subsequently joined Aston Villa on loan, where he also struggled for regular playing time. Unai Emery’s side opted not to sign the midfielder on a £35m permanent deal, and he returned to Anfield earlier this summer.

The Villa boss admitted that Elliott’s lack of game time was affecting him last season, with the midfielder making just nine appearances across all competitions – one short of the 10 required to activate the clause.
Elliott could now be set for another fresh start this summer. Valencia are in talks to sign Harvey Elliott before the summer transfer deadline.
Elliott has reportedly spoken with Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola and asked to leave Anfield to join Valencia, with optimism that a deal can be reached between all parties.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Harvey Elliott has agreed personal terms with Valencia following positive talks today.
Elliott was left out of Iraola’s squad for the 2-2 draw with Newcastle, with the Reds boss delivering a damning verdict by admitting he “preferred other options.”
Speaking ahead of the clash with Newcastle, Iraola said: “With Harvey, with [Luke] Chambers, with some of the players that I decided – because I can only choose 20 – to leave out, it’s a matter of finding the balance on the bench.
“In Harvey’s case, he’s trying, he’s improving every week, but I still prefer other options. Probably I was in doubt with James McConnell in terms of getting into the squad, and I decided to put James in the squad. But it’s another new week, new chances for everyone, and they have to keep that mentality.”
