'Get It Done' 'He'll Be An Amazing Signing' Chelsea Fans React To David Ornstein's Latest Transfer Update

Chelsea have been “offered” the chance to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.

The Argentinian international has been pushing to leave Villa Park all summer, and the Europa League winners have already recruited his replacement, Zion Suzuki from Parma. Following Robert Sanchez’s wretched performance against Fulham on Monday, the majority of fans on X are wholeheartedly behind bringing in another keeper:

He'll be an amazing signing: a great stopper and a winner par excellence, and our dressing room will have great mentality and personalities all round. My issue, if it materialises, will be Penders' fate! The lad has been patient, but football, yet again, wants to prove to be…

Chelsea have not decided whether they will go for the keeper

At the time of writing, the Blues have not given an indication either way whether they will pursue a move for Martinez.

His representatives are the ones who have proposed the transfer, and they have form for doing this, having reportedly offered him to Manchester United last year before the Red Devils opted to sign Senne Lammens instead.

Supporters will, though, be hoping that Chelsea’s recruitment team will take up the opportunity to sign Martinez, with many concerned that their chances of challenging at the top of the table will be jeopardised if Sanchez remains as no.1.

Villa are trying to sign a Chelsea player

Martinez’s current club are coincidentally locked in talks with the Blues over a deal for Nicolas Jackson. There are conflicting reports on whether Unai Emery’s side have tabled a formal bid for the Senegalese international, but a move before the transfer window closes seems to be a genuine possibility.

Jackson’s price tag is said to be £65m, and with the Villans seeking a potential replacement for Ollie Watkins, they may well get close to matching that figure.

It doesn’t seem as if Martinez will be included as part of the deal, mainly because the Blues have yet to decide on whether they want to bring in the former Arsenal keeper. Even so, there is a chance that both deals will go ahead over the next week or so.
