When the transfer window is active in the Premier League, most clubs look to focus on the here and now. Not always, though – sometimes, moves can be made to benefit teams in the far future.
Today, we’ll be examining such an instance. We’ve seen plenty of academy players poached by the biggest clubs in the country over the years, but it isn’t every day you see one hop between clubs in the venerated ‘big six’.
Arsenal have had 16-year-old Mishel Nduka tied down for the last year, after they snapped him up from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2025, but it seems he may now have a new home.’

According to a report on X (formerly Twitter) from journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have ‘completed a deal’ to bring him on board.
This could prove to be an excellent addition to the Sky Blues’ youth ranks. Will the Gunners come to regret this departure in the future?

What will Nduka bring to Man City in the future?
As we’ve mentioned, Nduka is only 16 years of age, so don’t expect to see him in the City first team any time soon. Nonetheless, he has already shown bags of potential in his fledgling career.
He tends to play as an attacking midfielder, though he can also function as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder, a left winger or even as an out-and-out striker. In today’s game, fielding more than one position can be an invaluable attribute.
This is a very strong way to display his maturity as a footballer. He is happy to take on several roles on the pitch and isn’t content with simply occupying a single position. On top of this, it also shows how varied his skillset is at such a young age.
His ball control is excellent, allowing him to jink beyond players and create chances for himself and for his teammates. Additionally, for a player of such a young age, he’s also quite strong, meaning he can ride challenges and make powerful runs down the flanks and through the middle.
Usually, players do not begin to pick up these physical traits until they’re well into their twenties, but Nduka is maturity incredibly quickly on this front.
Additionally, he is also a very hard worker on the pitch. He doesn’t shirk his defensive duties, always being willing to track back and win possession for his team. It is refreshing to see such an industrious attitude in a young player.
Furthermore, he has already collected caps for England at youth level. Thus far, he has made seven appearances for the Three Lions’ U16s team, but has yet to score a goal on the international stage.
He has only played in friendly games for England U16s thus far. We’ll have to see how he performs for his country in competitive outings.
