David Raya is confident that Arsenal could be unbeatable this season

As reported by ESPN, David Raya had an interview with the press association. The Spanish goalkeeper has conveyed his ambition to become regular champions in England and in Europe as well. Mikel Arteta’s side were trying to become English champions. After 22 years, in 2025-26 season Arsenal became Premier League winners.

Last season, the Gunners were brilliant throughout the season in England. This led them to lift their 14th first division title. However, they missed out on the Champions League glory on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain. That could have been their first UCL trophy in their history. They were one of the best European football teams last season. But after getting to taste his first league success, David Raya is confident that his side could challenge anybody this season.

The 30-year-old has said, “We want to become winners, not just a one-off. I think we’re going to have to attack the league again, attack the cups, attack the Champions League because we want more. We want all the trophies, and we are confident that we can beat anybody at any time, so we just have to be focused on ourselves and do better than last season.” At PFA awards ceremony, Raya, Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes were present as well. They all were named in the PFA Premier League team of the year.

The Arsenal keeper said, “The season was incredible, collectively and individually. I think we deserved to be there and be champions, so that was the most important thing. Every season is very, very long with ups and downs, but I think we dealt with everything that was thrown at us and it was an incredible season to lift the trophy, to give Arsenal the Premier League after 22 years, so, yeah, an amazing season.”

David Raya believes football is a team game

The Spanish international won the Premier League golden glove last season. Defensively, Arsenal performed very well. However, he said that each of the player in the squad has brilliant defensive awareness. He said, “I think we defensively, not just the defence but I think all the players from the striker to me, have a good defensive willingness in that way.”

Raya is excited at the arrival of Ezri Konsa who will strengthen their defense. When he was asked about his golden gloves winning run, he said, “It’s not just me. I’ve always said the same, it’s collective stuff. Obviously I’ve been part of it and it’s the third time consecutively, but we cannot stop there.”

Arsenal have kicked off the 2026-27 season

The Gunners have started the new season in a convincing way. They defeated Coventry City 3-0 in the very first match at Emirates. Arteta’s team will face Aston Villa in the Premier League at Villa Park.

In Champions League, Arsenal have some tough fixtures in the league phase. They will be facing Real Madrid, Dortmund, Lille and Sabah at home. Their away matches will be against Bayern Munich, Slavia Prague, Real Betis and Napoli.
