The Miami Dolphins have completed their preseason slate of games. As a result, they have completed all of their pre-Week 1 tune-ups. The only thing remaining is for head coach Jeff Hafley to make his final roster decisions.
Miami is likely to run a rather young roster this season. The Dolphins are widely not expected to compete in the AFC East this year. And it seems as if Hafley could be embracing a youth movement. At the same time, the first-year head coach knows that there is more to measuring success than simply the results of the game.
“Let me say this. Me and I want to win everything we do. But success is not just defined by winning. Winning for sure, right? That's why we play the game. I think every competitor wants to win in everything that we do… At the same time, we need to make sure that this foundation and process is built the right way,” the Dolphins head coach said, via C. Isaiah Smalls II of The Miami Herald.

The Dolphins made some big moves in the offseason. Miami cut ties with former fifth-overall pick Tua Tagovailoa this offseason after a dismal 2025 season. In his place is Malik Willis, who played with the Green Bay Packers last season when Hafley was their defensive coordinator.
Miami is preparing for a season that could be both challenging and rewarding. Seeing this young roster blossom into something special may make some of the tough losses worth it. It will be intriguing to see how things turn out in 2026.
