Nicolas Jackson has completed a permanent transfer from Chelsea to Aston Villa, bringing an end to the Senegal international’s two-year spell at Stamford Bridge.
Jackson joined Chelsea from Spanish side Villarreal in June 2023 and quickly became an important part of the club’s attacking options. The striker arrived in west London with a growing reputation after an impressive campaign in La Liga and was immediately handed significant responsibility in Chelsea’s forward line.
During his time with the Blues, Jackson made a notable contribution as the club continued to rebuild under a succession of managers. His pace, movement and ability to stretch opposing defences made him a regular threat in the final third, although his Chelsea career was also marked by periods of inconsistency.
The 25-year-old departs having been part of the Chelsea squads that lifted both the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup trophies.
Jackson enjoyed one of his most productive campaigns during Chelsea’s recent trophy-winning season, scoring 13 goals across the campaign. One of those strikes came in the UEFA Conference League final against Real Betis in Wroclaw, where Chelsea secured another piece of silverware.
His departure comes despite Jackson featuring for CHELSEA during pre-season under new head coach Xabi Alonso. The forward was involved as Alonso assessed his squad ahead of the new campaign, but the decision has now been made for Jackson to continue his career elsewhere.
A move to Aston Villa represents a fresh opportunity for the striker, who will now look to establish himself as a key attacking figure at Villa Park. Villa’s ambitions of competing near the top end of the Premier League and in European competition could provide Jackson with an attractive platform to continue his development.
For Chelsea, meanwhile, the transfer represents another significant change to a squad that has undergone considerable turnover in recent seasons. Jackson’s exit leaves Alonso with further decisions to make regarding his attacking options as the Blues continue shaping their squad for the campaign ahead.
CHELSEA have formally thanked Jackson for his efforts during his time at the club and wished him well for the future.
The Senegal international now begins a new chapter at Aston Villa, with the pressure on him to turn his considerable potential into consistent Premier League production
