**Man City “might be offered” Arsenal transfer target Julian Alvarez, according to _The Guardian_‘s Manchester correspondent Jamie Jackson.**
Speaking on the [_Market Madness_ podcast](https://www.givemesport.com/man-city-offered-chance-hijack-arsenal-julian-alvarez-transfer/), Jackson mentioned that the Argentinian may get the chance to return to the club he left two years ago, but he can’t see it being an attractive destination for the player due to the presence of a certain Norwegian:
“Yeah, I mean, I heard today that maybe Alvarez might be of interest. Or might be offered to City, Julian Alvarez, which is an interesting one, just because, you know, he was obviously at City, and why would you come back to a situation where you’re behind Erling Haaland? But that’s obviously because of Marmoush leaving; there is a gap.”
It seems Mikel Arteta’s side should not be overly concerned about their move for Alvarez being hijacked by another Premier League team.

Speaking about the situation on _TNT Sports_ on Saturday morning, _The Athletic_‘s David Ornstein said there is a “low chance” that Alvarez will end up moving to the Emirates.
He also confirmed reports from Spain that Arteta had a phone conversation with the player, who made it clear he wasn’t interested in moving back to England.

In terms of other strikers, the short answer is ‘no’. There were [**claims that fresh enquiries**](https://goonernews.com/blog/arsenal-transfer-news-endrick/) were made for Real Madrid’s Endrick this week, but Fabrizio Romano has labelled the stories as “fake news”.
If Arsenal do go into the market before the transfer window closes, and they can’t land Alvarez, they are expected to pursue a winger, with the likes of Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Marseille’s Igor Paixao and Lyon’s Malick Fofana all having been mentioned as potential targets. With just days to go before the deadline, though, getting any deal over the line could be difficult.
