Giants Legend Victor Cruz Makes Feelings Clear on Odell Beckham Jr.’s Roster Pursuit 1
From one New York Giants legend to another, former NFL wide receiver Victor Cruz shared his thoughts on Odell Beckham Jr. and the latter’s pursuit of a spot on the team’s final 53-man roster.
The final cuts are looming across the NFL, and the former LSU Tigers star wideout Beckham is one of the biggest names to watch out for on that front. Beckham used to be a lock to make the roster, but that’s no longer the case at this point in his career, with age and injury history becoming huge factors in assessing the 33-year-old wide receiver.
But for Cruz, there seems to be no doubt in his mind that Beckham has to be there on New York’s roster come Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.
“No one really gets that opportunity to get another crack at it and come back home and have that moment for themselves and for their career, so I commend him for having the courage to even do that and go there and humble himself to being the guy that’s further down in the depth chart and have to fight and scratch and claw and make his presence felt to a certain degree,” Cruz said, via Steve Serby of the New York Post.
Cruz was on the Giants team when Beckham arrived in the NFL as a first-round pick by New York in 2014, so he had seen firsthand what Beckham is capable of doing on the field.

During Friday’s preseason finale between the Giants and the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Beckham shared a short but passionate message on how much he wants to make the final cut.
“It would mean everything. It would be my dream. This is where I started,” Beckham said in an interview.
“There’s no place I want to give my whole heart to. More than anything else in the world is this place right here. And these fans have been rooting for you tonight too.”

Beckham had three catches on six targets for 53 receiving yards in the Giants’ 23-6 win over the Jets.
Now, it will be a wait-and-see approach for the electrifying wide receiver, as he looks to continue playing in the NFL.
