Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a major push for Julian Alvarez after fresh claims from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggested the Gunners remain firmly in the race for the Atletico Madrid striker.
Alvarez has emerged as one of Arsenal’s leading attacking targets during the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta’s side continuing to explore the possibility of bringing the Argentina international back to the Premier League. Recent reports indicate that Atletico are now prepared to consider a departure, although the situation remains dependent on the player’s decision.
Romano has revealed that Arsenal remain attentive to Alvarez’s situation and believe an agreement with Atletico over a transfer fee could be possible. The Gunners have already made contact with the Spanish club and held discussions over the conditions of a potential deal.

“They would be ready to try and reach an agreement. This extra money after all the extra money generated by Arsenal in the recent months gives Arsenal space to make business for Julian Alvarez.
“Arsenal will be ready to sit at the table with Atletico Madrid and to reach an agreement. Now they are waiting on Julian and any moment, when it’s just four or five days to go, any moment could be the moment.
“So get ready for this scenario because it’s not impossible.”
He went on: “The message from Atletico Madrid is very clear: if Julian wants to go to ARSENAL please go. You are free to go. It’s on Julian to decide what he wants to do.
“Let’s see because this Arsenal scenario should not be underestimated.”
With Atletico increasingly open to a sale and Barcelona effectively removed from negotiations, the Gunners could have a genuine opportunity to secure one of Europe’s most accomplished forwards.
