**Liverpool are currently down 1-0 against Nottingham Forest in Andoni Iraola’s first Premier League game in charge of the club.**
Oliver Glasner’s men looked the better of the two sides and deservedly took the lead through Dan Ndoye, who slotted the ball into the back of the net calmly past Allison Becker from just inside the penalty area.
The Reds got better as the game went on and finished the half strongly, but they need more from their players if they are to turn this around.
And Stephen Warnock’s grim verdict on their performance after Forest took the lead proves just how badly they defended that situation.
“There’s been no pressure from Liverpool. This has been so easy for Nottingham Forest,” said Warnock via the BBC.
“It’s under-10s football from Liverpool in terms of defending. It’s a simple ball over the top, the centre forward is strong and physical and when he lays it off the finish from Dan Ndoye is beautiful.
“Forest deservedly go ahead.”
Liverpool didn’t deal with Mats Selz’s long ball upfield, which eventually led to the goal. Warnock’s comments are a bit harsh but we don’t really disagree with the sentiment of it as the defending was simply not good enough.
