Everton are in talks with Malaga over a loan move for Adam Aznou, with an agreement expected before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The Athletic’s Patrick Boyland reports that the 20-year-old is expected to leave Everton in search of regular first-team football this season.
The Bobble has subsequently reported that Malaga are advancing in talks and Everton are set to sanction Aznou’s request to seek more regular game time.
Aznou exit would leave Everton short at left-back
Aznou joined Everton from Bayern Munich for £9million last summer but is yet to make his Premier League debut for the club.
He was given eight minutes from the bench during Wednesday night’s 4-0 Carabao Cup victory at Preston North End.
The Athletic had reported earlier in the summer that Everton were open to allowing the Morocco international to leave temporarily amid doubts over whether he was ready for regular first-team minutes.
A move now appears increasingly likely.
It would, however, leave Vitalii Mykolenko as Everton’s only senior specialist left-back heading into the closing days of the transfer window.
David Moyes’ squad is already short of options on the opposite side, with Everton continuing to look for another right-back.
Aznou previously spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Real Valladolid, having earlier developed in Barcelona’s academy before joining Bayern.
Another spell in Spain now looks increasingly likely.
