Giants acquiring defensive tackle in trade with Ravens image

The Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants have reportedly made a trade.
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Giants are acquiring defensive tackle C.J. Okoye from the Ravens in exchange for a 2028 seventh-round pick.
"Another John Harbaugh reunion: The Giants are trading for DT C.J. Okoye, per me and (Ian Rapoport), sending a 2028 7th-rounder to the Ravens for the former International Player Pathway participant.
The defensive tackle position was a concern for the Giants entering the offseason, and that need became more dire after the Dexter Lawrence trade with the Cincinnati Bengals.
New York took yet another hit to the group after Roy Robertson-Harris suffered an injury that landed him on injured reserve.
Okoye, who played under Giants head coach John Harbaugh last season, has appeared in 13 games during his brief NFL career and has posted 15 tackles, including one for loss, a pass defensed and one QB hit.
According to Pro Football Focus, the 6-foot-6, 315-pound lineman tallied grades of 50.2 overall, 51.8 in the pas-rush and 60.2 in run defense.
Giants great Osi Umenyiora previously offered some praise for Okoye, who took part in the former NFL edge rusher's Uprise camp.
"(Okoye) didn't test particularly well in the drills. The problem is — because they have never done those drills before and it's a different kind of training to execute them properly — when you test them, the numbers won't be that impressive," Umenyiora said.
"But then you put him in a competitive situation and he stands out. So, after watching him in competition, I decided he was well worth a chance."
While not exactly a needle-moving trade for the Giants, Okoye does at least give Big Blue some added depth at a position of need.
