The lone Buccaneers “starter” in last night’s worthless preseason game got hurt.
Rookie fourth-round pick cornerback Keionte Scott is slated to be the Bucs’ No. 1 nickel corner, but he did play last night against the Jaguars.
Joe gets it to a degree. Scott needs experience. Still, that comes with a risk and, per Todd Bowles this morning, Scott sprained his ankle in the game. Bowles didn’t get specific as to how serious it might be.
Joe’s not quite sure how the Bucs would proceed on opening day (in 15 short days) if Scott is unavailable. The Bucs plan to start Zyon McCollum and Jacob Parrish, last year’s rookie nickel, at outside cornerback.
Would the Bucs dare to move Parrish back to nickel and start undrafted rookie Ayden Garnes or Benjamin Morrison outside against the Bengals’ mighty receiving corps? Joe did not like some of the questionable effort by Morrision early in last night’s game.
