Jorja Fox has completed a permanent move from Chelsea to Ipswich Town, bringing an end to a long association with the Blues and opening a new chapter in the defender’s career.
The 23-year-old has signed an initial one-year contract with Ipswich, becoming the club’s 13th signing of the summer transfer window. Fox joins Gary O’Neil’s side after spending the majority of her senior career gaining experience through a series of loan spells.
Fox joined Chelsea’s Academy at the age of just eight and progressed through the club’s youth system before making her senior debut during the 2020/21 campaign in a 4-0 victory away at Aston Villa. She later made her first start in a 5-0 win over London City Lionesses.
The defender subsequently spent time on loan with Charlton Athletic, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United as she looked to gain regular first-team experience.
Her development was unfortunately interrupted by significant injuries, including two ACL problems. Fox suffered her first ACL injury during her spell with Brighton and later sustained another while at Crystal Palace. Chelsea supported her rehabilitation before she returned to competitive football.
Chelsea extended Fox’s contract in 2024, highlighting the faith the club had in her potential. She subsequently moved to Newcastle on loan for the 2025/26 season, continuing her development away from Stamford Bridge.
Following the move, Fox expressed her excitement about joining Ipswich and praised the club’s players, staff and facilities. She also spoke positively about the experiences she has gained in the Women’s Super League and Champions League during her career.

There is little doubt that CHELSEA supporters will be sad to see Fox leave permanently.
Her journey at the club began when she was only eight years old, meaning Chelsea has been a huge part of her footballing development. She worked her way through the academy, reached the first team and continued fighting to progress despite suffering serious injuries.
While she never managed to establish herself as a regular in Chelsea’s senior side, that should not overshadow the commitment she showed throughout her time with the club.
For Fox, this move is about more than simply leaving CHELSEA. It is an opportunity to build a new chapter, play regularly and demonstrate what she can do without the constant pressure of competing for places at one of the biggest clubs in women’s football.
