Cody Gakpo‘s future could be decided in meetings held after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, as Man City and Tottenham both pursue the winger.
Gakpo assisted Alexander Isak‘s goal for 1-1 in Sunday’s stalemate at Anfield, but that may be his last goal involvement for Liverpool.
That comes with the Dutchman considering a move away from Merseyside as both Man City and Tottenham push for his signature.
The Times‘ Paul Joyce reports that Liverpool would ask for “at least £80 million” for Gakpo, who still has four years left on his contract.
It represent an increase on the previously claimed price tag of between £60 million and £70 million, and signals an inflated market which has seen the Reds agree a deal worth £123 million for Paris Saint-Germain‘s Bradley Barcola.

According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano on X, Gakpo’s future was set to be decided in “key meetings” following the clash with Forest.
Sporting director Richard Hughes was present for the 2-2 draw along with Fenway Sports Group’s John W. Henry, who met with new investors from 1892 Holdings, Amit Bhatia and Bryan Baum.
Speaking on YouTube, Romano explained that “the desired target of Man City would be Cody Gakpo,” claiming “daily contact” between the Manchester club and the winger’s agency SEG.

“Man City are still there, still very keen on Gakpo,” Romano said.
“Tottenham have a verbal agreement on personal terms since July, but Man City are not giving up.
“So this battle between Man City and Tottenham is coming to an end soon and Man City, according to my information, should not be underestimated.”
It is still not guaranteed that Liverpool will allow Gakpo to leave, though the imminent signing of Barcola certainly eases the situation around Andoni Iraola‘s wingers.
With Gakpo starting on the right against Forest, rather than his natural left-hand side, it showed that he could maintain a role in the starting lineup even with the France international arriving.
Much will depend on Liverpool’s success in bringing in another forward on top of Barcola, with a number of targets pursued including Brighton‘s Yankuba Minteh and Crystal Palace‘s Ismaila Sarr.
Whether a final decision would be made in those meetings after Saturday’s game is questionable, as Liverpool can ill afford to allow Gakpo to leave without another signing already lined up.
But work is ongoing behind the scenes and, despite the perception of inactivity in the market, there is every chance progress has now been made on further transfers.
