Jared Verse and Carson Schwesinger Get Huge All-Pro Prediction Ahead of Browns Season 1
The Cleveland Browns may have two defenders ready to crash the All-Pro conversation. CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards has already put Jared Verse and Carson Schwesinger on his 2026 first-team radar, giving the Browns another reason to feel good about its defensive rebuild.
The prediction is not based on hype alone. Verse is coming off a season with 80 pressures, while Schwesinger produced 11 tackles for loss as a rookie. Now, both are entering 2026 with bigger expectations and even clearer roles.

On August 29, CBS Sports’ Edwards named Browns edge rusher Verse and linebacker Schwesinger as his picks to earn All-Pro honors this season. Edwards pointed to Verse’s pass-rush production and Schwesinger’s ability to make plays all over the field as reasons both could break into the league’s elite.
“Verse had the sixth-most pressures (80) last season. He relies supremely on his bull rush, but could take his game to another level if he is able to craft more hand-fighting moves to counter; Schwesinger had 11 tackles for a loss last season, which was fourth-best among off-ball linebackers; behind the Vikings’ Eric Wilson (17), Dolphins’ Jordyn Brooks (13) and Raiders’ Devin White (11). Schwesinger has great range and is comfortable making plays in space.”

Verse has an especially interesting path. The Browns acquired him from the Los Angeles Rams in the Myles Garrett trade, and the Browns are already changing how it deploys him. Defensive line coach Jacques Cesaire wants Verse playing from the edge and attacking without hesitation, rather than spending as much time reading the play from a stand-up alignment.
That could unlock another level. Verse posted 7.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in 2025 while earning an 83.9 PFF grade, which ranked 11th among 115 qualifying edge rushers. Now he has a chance to turn that efficiency into the kind of production that forces voters to notice.
Schwesinger’s case is different but just as intriguing. The second-round pick was named Defensive Rookie of the Year after recording 11 tackles for loss, fourth among off-ball linebackers. Edwards specifically highlighted his range and comfort making plays in space, traits that can make him stand out beyond the tackle totals.
And the Browns have plenty of reasons to let both defenders loose. The Browns’ latest 53-man roster projection listed Verse as a defensive-line centerpiece and Schwesinger as the starting linebacker alongside Quincy Williams. That puts two young defenders directly in the middle of the team’s plans.
The jump from promising defender to All-Pro is massive. Still, Edwards’ prediction gives Verse and Schwesinger a clear target. If Verse turns his pressure into more consistent finishing production and Schwesinger builds on his rookie impact, the Browns could have two first-time All-Pros making noise on the same defense.
