AFC Bournemouth 1-1 Everton: Player Ratings

Both teams came into today's game with positive expectations, following Everton’s win against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth’s late defeat to Manchester City, but an impressive performance.

Alex Scott opened the scoring for Marco Rose’s side just before half-time, producing a composed finish into the bottom corner after Everton were caught out in transition.

However, the Toffees rescued a point in dramatic fashion as James Tarkowski struck a superb half-volley from a corner in the final moments to bring the game level at 1-1.

Player Ratings

Jordan Pickford - 6/10

Made a good save from the resulting corner before producing another important stop with his feet to deny Rayan. Those saves proved crucial in keeping the score at 1-0.

Merlin Röhl — 5/10

An okay outing for the makeshift right-back. Röhl kept things simple for the most part and looked a threat when he drove inside from the flank, although he did not look to do so often enough. A steady, if unspectacular, performance.

James Tarkowski — 7/10

A strong performance from Tarkowski, capped by a dramatic last-minute equaliser. The defender attacked the corner like a striker, producing a superb half-volley to rescue a point. He also battled hard with Evanilson throughout the game and stood up well to the physical challenge.

Jarrod Branthwaite — 6/10

Branthwaite came close to opening the scoring from a corner, only to be denied by a fine save from Petrovic. He also did well to dispossess Rayan and showed good attacking intent with an overlapping run that Desbury-Hall opted not to use. However, he was caught too high on a few occasions, leaving space in behind.

Vitaliy Mykolenko — 5/10

Mykolenko struggled when faced with Rayan, who caused him problems throughout the game. He did produce some excellent defensive work with a series of crucial blocks to keep the score at 1-0.

Harrison Armstrong — 6.5/10

Armstrong was unlucky not to register an assist after creating a good opportunity for Barry. He also worked hard out of possession, with his dynamism in midfield helping to disrupt Watford’s attempts to transition quickly. He did not set the world alight, but it was another mature display from the youngster. With rumours of interest from Nottingham Forest, it was easy to see why the Premier League side are keeping tabs on him.

James Garner — 5/10

A mixed afternoon for Garner on his return from injury. He was dispossessed by Scott on the edge of the box but recovered brilliantly with a well-timed sliding interception to prevent the danger from developing. There were also a few sloppy moments in possession, although he was generally solid out of possession. Ultimately, it was understandable that he looked short of his best given his recent return from injury.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall — 7/10

Dewsbury-Hall was arguably Everton’s standout performer, creating several dangerous moments throughout the game. He should have had an assist for Branthwaite, while another opportunity saw his volley blocked by Truffert. The midfielder also felt he should have been awarded a penalty after being brought down by Hill, but the referee waved play on. His frustration was clear throughout the game, but his influence and creativity made him one of Everton’s most dangerous players.

Iliman Ndiaye — 6/10

Ndiaye tested Petrovic with a good effort from distance and was tidy in possession throughout the game. However, he struggled to make a significant impact in the final third and did not create too much for Everton, with speculation continuing to surround a potential move to a potential move to Manchester City.

Thierno Barry — 3/10

A frustrating afternoon for Barry, who had three excellent opportunities but was unable to take any of them. His first came from the rebound after Tyrique George’s shot, but he could not find the finish. He also showed some really good hold-up play and nearly scored after being played through by Dewsbury-Hall. His biggest opportunity came after James Garner put him through, but Barry produced a terrible miss when he should have done better. Three costly misses for a man who came into the game in good goalscoring form.

Tyrique George — 6.5/10

George was one of Everton’s brightest attacking outlets in the early stages, with his pace in behind causing Adam Smith plenty of problems. His direct running and creativity made him a constant threat, with Smith eventually forced to bring him down to stop one dangerous attack. George looked capable of creating something for the Toffees but was relatively quiet in the second half.

Substitutes

Hayden Hackney — 5/10

Hackney made a crucial contribution with an excellent block on Evanilson to help keep the score at 1-0. His corner also played a key role in the equaliser, eventually finding James Tarkowski, who produced the late finish. However, outside of those two moments, Hackney struggled to make a consistent impact on the game.

Brennan Johnson - 2/10

Touched the ball 6 times and completed one pass in half an hour.

Beto - 4/10

Had a few opportunities but also failed to have that ruthlessness Everton were crying out for.

Carlos Alcaraz - N/A

Struggled to make his mark in the 5 minutes he was on, and did get a yellow card though.

Tim Iroegbunam - N/A

Struggled to make his mark in the 5 minutes he was on.
