The board at Premier League champions Arsenal are weighing up a potential move for a former member of the attacking ranks at La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

This comes as the Gunners are forced to face up to their pursuit of Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez coming up short.

Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements in the final third, Mikel Arteta and co. are long understood to have set their sights on Argentine international Alvarez. The problem for Arsenal, however, is that the 26-year-old has eyes only for Barcelona.

With just days remaining in the summer transfer window, and Gabriel Martinelli on his out of North London, The Emirates brass have therefore been left with little choice but to seek out alternative profiles.

And as alluded to above, this weekend, this ongoing scouring of the market has led Arsenal to a recent departure from none other than Hansi Flick’s Barca.

As per a report from Diario Sport, citing sources in England:

‘Marcus Rashford has appeared on Arsenal’s radar, who are considering strengthening their attack before the window closes.’

Versatile frontman Rashford of course spent the duration of last season plying his trade at the Spotify Camp Nou, only to see the Barcelona brass opt against making his signing a permanent one.
