Arsenal have completed the signing of striker Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers. The 18-year-old has joined the Gunners after several attempts to reach an agreement, as per latest transfer news.

Arsenal have confirmed the arrival of Tyjon from Blackburn after finally reaching an agreement for the young striker. As reported by BBC Sport, Tyjon made three senior appearances for Blackburn after making his first-team debut at just 16 years old. He has also represented both England and Poland at youth level.
Arsenal have been trying to sign Tyjon for several transfer windows but were previously unable to reach an agreement with Blackburn. The Gunners eventually secured a deal worth an initial £1m, with a further £2m available in potential add-ons. Tyjon has been given the No 64 shirt and will initially join Arsenal’s Under-21 squad.
However, the teenager is also expected to train with Mikel Arteta’s first team at times. There is a belief that he could make a senior appearance this season, particularly if Arsenal progress in the domestic cup competitions. Tyjon said he was excited to finally complete the move and praised Arsenal’s pathway, staff and players. He also revealed that he already knows several members of the squad from his time with the England youth teams.
Igor Tyjon’s career so far
Tyjon joined Blackburn’s youth academy in 2023. He had previously begun his youth career at Rochdale. He quickly made an impression, scoring on his Under-21 debut at just 15. The striker later made his Blackburn first-team debut at 16 and went on to make three senior appearances for the club over the last two seasons. His most recent first team appearance was in the EFL Cup in 2025.
His record at youth level is even more impressive. Tyjon scored 13 goals in 33 appearances for Blackburn’s Under-21 side. Although mainly a striker, he can also play as a winger or No 10, giving Arsenal another versatile attacking option for the future.
Tyjon has represented both Poland and England at youth level. His parents are Polish, and he played for Poland Under-16s before switching to England. He was also part of England’s squad at the Under-17 World Cup last season, giving him experience of international football despite his young age.

Arsenal continue academy rebuild
Tyjon’s arrival is another sign of Arsenal’s focus on strengthening their academy. The Gunners have made several additions to their youth set-up this summer, with Elijah Upson joining after leaving Tottenham and Axel Donczew also set to arrive from Cardiff.
Arsenal are also expected to complete deals for James Scanlon and Habeeb Ogunneye from Manchester United. For Tyjon, the move provides an opportunity to develop within one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. Regular Under-21 football should help him adjust to his new surroundings while training with the senior squad could give him valuable experience.
Arsenal will hope Tyjon can keep improving and, in time, challenge for a place in Arteta’s first team. His ability to play in different attacking roles could also help his progress. The striker now has a fresh chance to prove himself at Arsenal. The move comes after the club spent more than a year working to complete the deal.
