Chelsea are reportedly making progress on a "big name" midfielder as well as Lamine Camara. According to the French media outlet Foot Mercato's Sebastien Denis, the Blues are looking at further reinforcements to replace Enzo Fernandez.
The Argentinian is said to have agreed personal terms with Manchester City over a cross-Premier League move that will see him reunite with Enzo Maresca. Xabi Alonso and the Chelsea recruitment team have outlined AS Monaco midfielder Camara as a player of interest.
Now, Foot Mercato has claimed progress is being made over a move for an unnamed player, who is described by Denis as 'a very big name' to join the Stamford Bridge ranks.
Chelsea got off to a winning start on Monday with a win over west London rivals Fulham. They host Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday (2pm) in the former Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid boss Alonso's first home match in charge at SW6.
Time is running out to add reinforcements into the ranks with the window slamming shut on September 1. Chelsea could find themselves alongside their Premier League rivals making a late dash to acquire their desired targets for the first half of the season.
Chelsea are still waiting for a formal bid from Man City for Fernandez, while City are also closing in on a deal to sign Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo. The midfielder was left out of the squad that beat Luton Town in the Carabao Cup in midweek, leaving an air of uncertainty around his involvement for the Seagulls' visit to the capital this weekend.

Camara is said to not be seen as a like-for-like for the World Cup winner and as per the Telegraph, the Senegalese midfielder is open to a Premier League switch. Therefore, a move could accelerate should the clubs agree a fee.
Martin Zubimendi of Arsenal was reportedly considered while Chelsea were rebuffed in their efforts to sign in-demand midfielder Alex Scott earlier in the window.
But Chelsea's business isn't finished there with Emi Martinez closing in on a return to the capital. The former Arsenal goalkeeper will offer experience and much-needed quality between the sticks for the Blues after Robert Sanchez came under fire for his performance against the Cottagers.
The goalkeeping department has undergone major surgery in recent years but no improvements have been forthcoming. A two-year contract for Martinez with guaranteed Premier League quality would come as a boost for Alonso.
Chelsea are set for a busy few days and could add to their expenditure this summer with a deluge of business in the closing stages.
