Real Reason Odell Beckham Jr. Is Desperate to Make Giants' Final Roster 1
Odell Beckham Jr. is widely known for being one of the NFL’s most electrifying wide receivers in the last decade. He has played in the NFL since the 2014 season, and has played for the New York Giants, the Cleveland Browns, the Los Angeles Rams, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Miami Dolphins.
While it looked like his career in the NFL was basically over, the Giants signed him back. He has now talked about why he wants to continue with the team.
Odell Beckham Jr. says he wants to stay on Giants roster for his son
Beckham signed with the Giants in June 2026 after sitting out the entire 2025 season. He played in the team’s preseason finale against the New York Jets on August 28, 2026, and recorded three receptions for 53 yards. The game ended in a 23-6 victory for the Giants.

After the game ended, Beckham spoke with reporters in the dressing room. When asked what it meant to be back on the team, he said that it means “everything, really everything.” and that he was doint it for his 4-year-old son Zydn Beckham.
He added, “Seeing my son at the game, yelling, just looking at me. He told one of his friends, ‘People always want to take a picture with my dad. He must be the best.’ It just made me laugh because I just want to show him. I want to lead the way. I want to be a good example for him, a good man. I’ve grown so much, and it would mean everything to me if I made it.”
Zydn was born in February 2022, only days after Beckham won Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams. His son never saw him achieve the significant milestones he made, such as winning the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year award, his Super Bowl title, and his three Pro Bowl selections. He also had a great moment with his son earlier.
Odell Beckham Jr. shares special moment with son on sideline
In the preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings, Beckham shared a wholesome moment with his son on the sideline. A video released by the NFL’s social media account shows the wide receiver walking up to his son on the sideline and picking him up. The two shared a unique handshake and a fist bump, before Beckham gave him a light kiss and went back to practice.
His former partner Lauren Wood was carrying their child on the sideline. Zydn was wearing a special jersey as well, he wore Beckham’s No. 3 Giants jersey.
Odell Beckham Jr. will be hoping that he can secure a place in the final roster of the Giants.
