Florian Wirtz “constantly posed a threat” but full-backs “erratic” again

Florian Wirtz stood out as Liverpool’s best player in the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, but both full-backs were again hugely disappointing.

The Reds came from behind twice at Anfield on Saturday, but ultimately it was two more points dropped in the Premier League.

Here we compare our player ratings with those of the Liverpool Echo and BBC Sport.

Wirtz (7.3) may not have produced an game-changing display, but he was Liverpool’s standout player.

The German had a goal disallowed and provided an assist for Victor Munoz, with Ian Doyle of the Echo saying he “tried hard to create” from his No. 10 role.

BBC Sport’s Aadam Patel felt Wirtz “constantly posed a threat,” which can’t be said of plenty of his team-mates.

Cody Gakpo (7.0) and Munoz (7.0) also did well overall, with the former’s finish described as a “rocket” by TIA’s Joanna Durkan.

There were less favourable reviews for full-back duo Jeremie Frimpong (5.0) and Milos Kerkez (5.0), however, as their unconvincing form continues.

Frimpong was “erratic defensively and going forward,” according to Doyle, who gave him just a four-out-of-10 rating.

What the stats say: Munoz shines on home debut

It was an impressive Anfield debut for Munoz, with him and Dominik Szoboszlai getting the best scores from FotMob.

The Spaniard finished brilliantly to make it 2-2, and a total of four shots highlighted his level of involvement.

Szoboszlai wasn’t close to his best, but he still made an unrivalled 14 defensive contributions for Liverpool, including eight recoveries.

Barring his goal, it was another quiet day for Alexander Isak, whose 13 touches were the fewest any Liverpool player has managed over 90 minutes since 2003/04.
