Chicago Home Invasion, Gunpoint Robbery Leads To Arrest: PD (patch.com) β Chicago police arrested a 60-year-old Calumet City man Friday after a reported home invasion on South La Salle Street in the 5th District, where four men were allegedly robbed at gunpoint. Officers took him into custody on South Wentworth Avenue and charged him with multiple felony counts of armed robbery and home invasion involving a dangerous weapon.
2. Group of Chicago police officers travel to Colombia to deliver aid after quake (nbcchicago.com) β Chicago police officers are spending their own time in Colombia this week, delivering building supplies and groceries to families hit hard by the recent 7.4-magnitude earthquake. The officers, members of the Chicago Police Soccer Club, helped raise nearly $9,000 through Colombia Fest and local businesses, and say they're focused on showing survivors that Chicago stands with them before flying home Tuesday.
3. Tyson Bagent, Bears blitz Titans, 24-15 (statenews.net) β Chicago Bears fans got a promising preseason performance as backup quarterback Tyson Bagent and rookie receiver Zavion Thomas connected on a 97-yard touchdown on Chicago's first play in a 24-15 win over the Titans. With starters resting, Bagent went 16-of-17 with two scores, Roschon Johnson added a rushing touchdown, and the Bears closed their preseason on a strong note.
