Enzo Fernandez has verbally agreed personal terms with Manchester City as the midfielder pushes towards a potential late Chelsea exit.
Manchester City’s long-running pursuit has now moved significantly beyond interest, with Fernandez giving the Premier League rivals his approval and reaching an agreement over the personal side of the transfer.
However, Chelsea and City have not yet agreed a fee.
Fabrizio Romano reports that City have still not submitted an official bid, with the final decision over Fernandez’s valuation remaining with Chelsea.
That represents clear progression from ReadChelsea’s earlier report that Manchester City were considering a late £120m Enzo Fernandez bid.

Enzo Fernandez agrees Man City terms
Romano confirmed on Saturday that Fernandez has a verbal agreement with City on personal terms.
The Argentina international had already given the move his green light earlier in the week, but agreement over his potential City contract takes the situation another step forward.
City are now expected to make direct contact with Chelsea as the two clubs attempt to discover whether a deal can be completed before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea remain in control of that decision.
Fernandez has a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge and the Blues have consistently maintained that they will only sell if the financial package allows them to improve Xabi Alonso’s squad.
No official City offer has yet tested that position.
Chelsea move for Lamine Camara gathers pace
Chelsea’s pursuit of Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara has developed alongside the uncertainty surrounding Fernandez.
The Blues are now closing in on a Lamine Camara transfer with a London trip planned, after holding direct discussions with Monaco over the Senegal international.
Camara is reportedly expected to travel to England as early as Sunday if the remaining details can be resolved.
Chelsea have also been exploring other midfield options, although Bournemouth have effectively closed one route by ruling out an Alex Scott sale before the deadline.
Camara therefore increasingly looks like the player Chelsea want in place should Fernandez leave.
Chelsea now wait for Man City bid
The next stage is straightforward.
City must convert Fernandez’s agreement into an acceptable offer to Chelsea.
Until that happens, Fernandez remains a Chelsea player and there is no club-to-club agreement for his departure.
His involvement against Brighton on Sunday is also uncertain. Romano says the midfielder could again be left out, having already missed the Carabao Cup victory over Luton.
ReadChelsea’s predicted Chelsea XI against Brighton already leaves Fernandez out of Alonso’s starting side.
With personal terms now settled, attention turns entirely towards City.
A formal bid is the next development that would materially change the transfer.
