Liam Delap made an instant impact on his first appearance for Nottingham Forest since leaving Chelsea, and he could be joined by one of his former teammates before the transfer window closes.
Delap’s quick thinking helped Forest pick up their first point of the season at Anfield against Liverpool, with him knocking on the door to start their next game.
It became clear that Delap was out of Chelsea’s plans under Xabi Alonso, and the club did well to gain a profit on the striker with the £50m sale.

Another player who looks out of the plans is Robert Sanchez, with the Blues today confirming the signing of Emi Martinez from Aston Villa.
This has moved the Spaniard out of contention to be the starting goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge, and forced him and his agents to search for another club.

As per Simon Phillips’ Substack, Forest are one of the clubs who are considering making a move to sign the shot stopper before Tuesday’s deadline.
He said: “Sanchez, who has been left shocked by the situation, has his agents working on this now and they are in talks with a number of clubs from England, Europe, and Saudi.
“Our sources have heard that Nottingham Forest are one of the English clubs exploring a late move for Sanchez.”
Sanchez was going to be competing with Mike Penders for a starting spot before the signing of Martinez, with the young Belgian keeping a clean sheet in his first appearance for the club in the EFL Cup against Luton Town.
It has become clear the Blues do not want to stunt the growth of Penders too much, with Martinez only signing a two-year deal with the club.
Moving to Forest would see Sanchez competing with Matz Sels for a place in the side, a battle he will fancy his chances at.
It looks to be a brutal way out for the Spaniard, but Chelsea are looking to build a side capable of challenging for the Premier League, and they cannot do that with him in goal.
