Ben Jacobs has given his verdict to GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness on whether Manchester City will sign Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
Fernandez continues to be heavily linked with a move to City and is believed to be keen on reuniting with former manager Enzo Maresca. The Argentine midfielder has been booed by his club's fans amid talk of him wanting to leave and join the Cityzens.
Xabi Alonso left Fernandez out of his entire matchday squad for Chelsea's 2-0 win over Luton Town in the Carabao Cup midweek. He was also not included in the squad to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

With deadline day on the horizon, uncertainty is growing over Fernandez getting his move to the Etihad. Chelsea appear to be preparing for his potential exit and have Fabrizio Romano confirmed that they have held talks with AS Monaco for Lamine Camara.
Jacobs has a feeling that Fernandez will become a City player once the window slams shut at 11PM BST on Tuesday. He said on the latest episode of GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness podcast on Friday:
"I know it feels like it's all being left until the last minute, but four days of the window is more than enough time, in my opinion, to get this deal done. So, if I had to predict, I would say Enzo Fernandez will be a Manchester City player between now and the end of the window."
City have already made two midfield signings with Elliot Anderson arriving from Nottingham Forest for £116 million at the start of the window. They later spent £86m on Ayyoub Bouaddi, bringing the Moroccan to the Etihad from French club LOSC Lille.

Fernandez has been on their radar ever since Maresca succeeded Pep Guardiola and the pair held a strong relationship at Chelsea. The 25-year-old was upset when the club sacked the Italian in January and said that it 'hurt us a lot'.

Maresca always spoke highly of Fernandez during his time in charge at Chelsea and made him one of the members of the club's leadership group. He particularly took to the former Benfica star's passionate mentality and how his all-round game had improved.
Speaking in February 2025, he hailed the 2022 World Cup winner: "He behaved as a leader and he is doing top, fantastic. For sure Enzo has taken a step forward in that sense. He is showing how good a leader he is, how good he is on the ball, how good he is off the ball."

Fernandez starred under Maresca, becoming a talisman for the West London outfit and enjoying his best season during his time at the club. His desire to join City isn't only based on the chance to help the Cityzens but also to reunite with his former coach.
