Liverpool are on the verge of confirming another £100m+ deal for Bradley Barcola to join from Paris Saint-Germain, but they are still looking to land another winger before Tuesday's 11pm deadline.
Liverpool chiefs wanted to land a high-profile Mohamed Salah replacement following the Egyptian's exit this summer, and Barcola fits the bill after his achievements with Paris Saint-Germain and France.
However, despite bringing in Barcola and Victor Munoz this summer, the Reds are still eyeing a move for another forward, with Manchester City advancing in talks to bring Cody Gakpo to the Etihad.
Tottenham Hotspur had looked to be the favourites to prise the Dutchman away from Anfield this summer, even though he has made an impressive start to the Premier League season with one goal and one assist in two games.
However, the 27-year-old has decided he wants to join City instead, after the eight-time Premier League champions made their move for the Netherlands international having sold Savinho and Omar Marmoush to Spurs.
The Merseyside outfit are unwilling to green-light Gakpo's move to City until they sign a replacement, and they look to need a right-sided winger to arrive by the deadline.
Having been priced out of a move for Yankuba Minteh by Brighton and Hove Albion, Liverpool have turned their attentions to Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr after making an approach to the south London club, and they believe they can land him for a lower fee than the Gambia international.
The Reds and Andoni Iraola should forget the Senegal international and move for another winger they have been linked with.
Francisco Conceicao Can Answer Liverpool Issues
via Reuters
Reports in Italy earlier this year claimed that Liverpool were looking into a deal for Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao, believing that he is of a 'similar' profile to Salah.
Sarr may be proven in the Premier League and has an impressive record for Crystal Palace, but he is also turning 29 years of age in February, and the Reds should look to land a younger player instead who will have more value in the future.
Conceicao is 23 and he has proven pedigree, having already made almost 180 appearances for FC Porto and Juventus, as well as scoring four goals in 21 caps for Portugal.

Like Sarr, Conceicao plays from the right flank, which is something Liverpool look to really need following the additions of Munoz and Barcola, who both have a preference to play from the left.
And, like Salah, the Portuguese star is left-footed and loves cutting in on that side to cause problems for opposition defences.
Reports have suggested that Conceicao could be available for £60m, and if the price for Sarr is approaching that sort of fee, then it is a no-brainer for Liverpool to switch to the Juve man instead as they look to have a frontline that will be feared for years to come.
