Jamie Carragher has weighed in on Man City transfer interest in Cody Gakpo, with the Liverpool legend suggesting it might be the right time to part ways with the Dutch winger

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher says the Reds should cash in on Cody Gakpo if Manchester City is prepared to pay $115 million (£85 million) for the 27-year-old.
While Andoni Iraola's roster is in need of more options in forward areas, not fewer, there is a possibility that Gakpo exits if enough reinforcements come in, with Bradley Barcola seemingly on the verge of arriving in a big-money transfer from PSG.
Yankuba Minteh of Brighton is another who has been considered as Liverpool looks to add more depth in attack. And Carragher believes cashing in on Gakpo at could be the right move.
"The money talked about for Gakpo (is) £80/85M (so) we should sell," Carragher wrote on social media in response to Virgil van Dijk's comments about wanting his teammate to stay.
"With Barcola arriving he will be a squad player. We need to use that money for a right winger and give the squad a better balance."
If Gakpo leaves and Barcola arrives, that would leave the Frenchman and Rio Ngumoha as options for the left flank. Victor Munoz, who scored against Nottingham Forest, could play off the right with a new signing coming in.
When one fan replied to suggest Liverpool need another two forwards before Gakpo can leave, Carragher replied: "We’ve currently got 4 left wingers!!! I think they’ll use Barcola centrally at times."

"What do you think? He's a quality player. I think we should keep quality players," Van Dijk had told reporters at Anfield when asked about the situation.
"Let's see what the next few days bring. I want him to stay not only because he's a quality player but also because he's a friend of mine. He's very important for us."
Iraola has spoken openly about wanting a couple of new faces in before the transfer deadline, but the clock is ticking.
"Adding quality to the squad always makes a difference," Van Dijk added. "Let's see what the next few days brings. After Tuesday we have to fight for everything with no regrets.

"We have to score more, concede less, dominate more with and without the ball. Nottingham Forest have come here the last three seasons and remained unbeaten. That shouldn't happen.
"In all the years I've been at the club it hadn't happened. It's down to us to make sure we are a unit — every member of the squad together with our fans."
Liverpool.com says: If it was earlier in the window, it would feel more comfortable for getting a good replacement in, as well as getting a good price for Gakpo.
Most people's reluctance stems from it being such a late point in the window. Whatever happens, Liverpool cannot afford to leave Iraola short.
