Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS lead NFL analyst Tony Romo was arrested and cited for suspicion of drunk driving back in July. CBS has placed Romo on leave as he awaits court dates in September.
Recently, a spokesperson for Romo stated on his behalf: “Tony accepts full responsibility for his actions and has taken proactive steps to ensure that this isolated civil matter is properly resolved.”

New information has come to light as Romo is facing three new citations in the case, including first-offense operating while intoxicated, unsafe passing on the right side, and possessing open intoxicants in his vehicle.

“Glad to hear his spokesperson say he’s accepting full responsibility, but driving with open intoxicants is incredibly dangerous regardless of who you are. Hopefully, this September court date brings real accountability and a wake up call, one person wrote on X.
“Those were always the charges and in Wisconsin first offense OWI is a non-jailable traffic citation that is often plead down reckless op. Tony needn’t worry about the consequences from the state but his broadcasting career is over,” another fan said.

With the season so close, Romo’s CBS position remains in jeopardy as the team has made a replacement, with former Texans linebacker JJ Watt accepting the open spot.
“Haven’t said much because it’s not the circumstances you’d hope it would happen under, but I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with a legendary team in Jim Nantz, Tracy Wolfson, Jim Rikhoff and the entire CBS lead crew,” Watt wrote via X.
