The agent of Yan Diomande says Real Madrid were always the preferred destination this summer - despite strong interest from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool communicated their willingness to bid £86m for Diomande to RB Leipzig back in June before the Ivory Coast international privately revealed a desire to move to Champions League holders PSG.

However, in an interview with El Chiringuito, Diomande's Roc Nation Sports representative, Nathan Campbell, said Real Madrid, who signed him for £120m last month, were always the 19-year-old attacker's dream club.

“I’m excited and proud, and Yan Diomande is on his way to showing Real Madrid why they paid that amount for him," Campbell said.

“As soon as he knew that Real Madrid were interested, as I’ve said several times, he said he wanted to go to Real Madrid and that it was his dream. There were no doubts and no questions,

“From the beginning, we knew that Real Madrid wanted him and although, obviously, there was interest from other teams, English clubs such as Liverpool, and also PSG, once Real Madrid sat down at our table, it was a pleasure to close the deal.

“He doesn't feel any pressure. He is ready to start playing and to fulfil his goals, which are to win titles with Real Madrid and eventually win some individual trophies.

“Hopefully the Golden Boy this year and in the future the Ballon d'Or is what he aspires to win."

Liverpool are set to complete a £123m deal for PSG's Bradley Barcola on Monday. But they are still looking to sign another winger with Manchester City in talks for the £85m-rated Cody Gakpo.
