Coventry City have completed the loan signing of Manchester City teenager Stephen Mfuni.
COVENTRY City have completed the signing of teenage defender Stephen Mfuni on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.
The 18-year-old has made one senior appearance for Man City and can play at centre-back or left-back.
Mfuni’s move to the Sky Blues initially appeared to have fallen through, however, the teenager has now signed for Coventry for the 2026/27 season.
Mfuni said: “I feel blessed to be here, it’s exciting.
“These are moments you dream of and to do it with such a good team and a good squad, I’m looking forward to it.
“I spoke to the gaffer, he wants me to show what I normally do on the pitch, whether I’m at left-back or centre-back, and for me to keep being me and do what I do.
“It feels good and feels like somewhere I can be at home. I’m looking forward to seeing the fans and for them to see why I’m here.”
He came off the bench in Man City’s 10-1 FA Cup third round win against Exeter City last season.
Mfuni spent the second half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Watford in the Championship.
The teenager made eight appearances for the Hornets and had been in talks regarding a return to Vicarage Road earlier this summer.
He has played for England up to under-19 level and scored in the FA Youth Cup final as City lifted the trophy in 2023/24.
The left-footed defender featured on the bench three times for City in the UEFA Champions League last season.
He also earned a spot on the bench in five Premier League games including both Manchester derby matches.
Coventry travel to Man City on Saturday, September 5 in the club’s next game of the Premier League season.
